Mortal Kombat 9 EVO 2012 Grand Finals

The EVO fighting game championships were this week. Here’s a video of the grand finals. It’s PerfectLegend (the winner of last year’s Mortal Kombat EVO championship), using Kung Lao, against vVv Nos CD JR, who is using Kabal.

New Mortal Kombat Movie Details Emerge

The new Mortal Kombat reboot for the PS3 and 360, and now for the PS Vita, has actually sold very well and has gained a lot of new fans, along with older, more dedicated fans of the series. Because of this, Warner Brothers has decided to also reboot the movie series that came along with the original games in the 90’s. This was all known, already, but new details have emerged about the movie plot.

Apparently, live-action adaption of the videogame will surround a very crummy and just poor supermarket employee who discovers that he has incredible super powers and must decide to use the powers for good or evil. Both would have their perks, but apparently, the evil side helped him discover his true potential… Sounds lame, but I’m hoping they can fit it in as long as this character is not a main character like Liu Kang or a character with an existing background. Otherwise, it would be almost like they’re re-imagining the series like the horrible Dragon Ball movie that came out a few years ago… I would HATE for that to happen to an amazing series like Mortal Kombat… which is now my favorite videogame of all time…

I have a lot of graphic pieces that I’ve done in Photoshop over the years and even to this day, I make more and more for various reasons: For fun, for work, or just because I’m bored. Well, I made this one almost one year ago (before I made this blog) and decided that today is just as good as any day to start releasing my works.
It’s Reptile from Mortal Kombat. I posted about him a while back during a Song Of The Day post… One reason is because he’s the main character I use when playing Mortal Kombat and he’s always been my favorite character.

Other than this concept render, everything was made from scratch. I’ll try to post a tutorial for the glowing text later if I have time.

Raiden Glitched Into Performing Kitana’s X-Ray

I captured this video last year while playing Mortal Kombat 9 with a friend. We were in a tag match and he tried to use Kitana’s X-Ray just as I hit him with one of Reptile’s bubbles. It resulted in Raiden coming out, but it was timed in a way that Raiden switched, but still continued doing Kitana’s X-Ray attack.

We tried to recreate the glitch many, many times, but it failed every time… I guess we were very lucky to capture it on video the first time around!

Song Of The Day – Reptile by Skrillex

Whenever the Mortal Kombat reboot was coming out last year, Warner Brother Studios made sure to have a soundtrack release coincide with the game. The reason for this was Ed Boon’s stress on importance of music in video games, especially Mortal Kombat. In fact, Mortal Kombat has always had a strong tie-in with music. I still hum the ol’ Mortal Kombat Theme song….

Skrillex, being one of the various artists picked for the album, made a song to represent Reptile, who is my favorite character to use in the Mortal Kombat series.

I highly recommend Mortal Kombat (2011). It’s definitely my favorite video game of all time. The visuals are amazing, the gameplay is balanced, and the sound and music are far above the standard.
